DMS offers a full line of Large Format Overhead Gantry 5 Axis CNC Routers. Design flexibility allows the customer to tailor the machine size and configuration to exactly suit the application requirements. These machines can support all options available on other DMS 5 Axis models.
The Side Rail Model features an open frame structure without a table surface that allows the customer to customize the fixture platform to the application.
The “C” Frame design includes a full aluminum table that can be configured with a wide variety of fixture mounting options including threaded inserts, T-Slots or fixture locating bushings.
Spindles & Rotary Axis Head Options
Strength and precision are built into the rotary axes of the DMS 5 Axis CNC Router. Virtual Zero Backlash is achieved by the use of high accuracy direct drive gear sets that minimize spindle vibration thus ensuring consistent alignment, higher speed machining, increased tool life, and superior cut quality.
Automatic Tool Changer Magazines
The standard DMS 5 Axis Automatic Tool Changer Magazine is a 12 pocket Traveling Carousel.
The Carousel is attached to the Z Axis spindle carriage structure and moves left and right as the spindle traverses the bridge beam. This results in the fastest “chip to chip” tool change speed possible.
Tool Carousel rotation is provided by a closed loop servo motor that provides accurate tool pocket alignment with the spindle face and centerline during tool release and pick up.
Custom Tool Magazine solutions are available including Dual Carousels and Rack Style magazines that can provide additional tool storage capacity to the CNC Router.
Unlimited, Continuous C Axis Rotation
Standard DMS C Axis rotation is limited in range from -183º to +183º which is the common range for all 5 Axis machines on the market.
DMS offers the optional Continuous C Axis rotation feature. The C Axis range of rotation is virtually unlimited. Wiring to the spindle, compressed air and spindle liquid coolant lines are passed through a proprietary commutator device located within the 5 axis head structure.
Continuous C provides two real time saving advantages by greatly simplifying the task of programming 5 axis movement of the tool in CAD/CAM as well as an improved surface finish and more efficient tool path that significantly reduces machining time.
Automatic Tool Length Measurement
DMS offers an optional Automatic Tool Length Sensor feature available on both the 3 and 5 Axis CNC Router products. All length measurement systems are highly accurate and feature a single M-Code that executes automatic tool selection from the magazine and tool positioning to the probe measuring position. Upon tool tip detection by the probe, the individual measured tool length is automatically stored in the Fagor Tool Offset Table.

Automatic Bearing Lubrication System
Long term reliability of any machine tool depends on a regular maintenance and lubrication schedule. Inadequate lubricant to the bearings will cause premature wear to not only the bearings but the trackway rails. Over time, the machine stability will suffer and repair will be costly.
DMS offers an optional Automatic Bearing Lubrication System. Each bearing on the machine is connected to a central manifold. The lubrication dispenser automatically provides a pressurized, programmable time metered oil feed to each bearing
